Title: Rescue at large q
Abstract: We describe a general effective theory for two copies of a chaotic model (SYK at large q) with a time-dependent bilinear coupling. After showing how the evolution is described by a complex reparametrization field, we study correlation functions in this system and examine the relationship to the bulk low-energy effective theory. We apply this theory to give a detailed description of a “rescued black hole”, a setup whose holographic interpretation is a geometry which crosses over from the “AdS2 black hole” to the “global vacuum”. This family of geometries allow us to access the bulk region that would be the black hole interior without the rescue process. By comparing the large-q and low energy theory, we find that even in the low energy region the deviation from the low energy theory cannot be neglected if the rescue process starts late. We discuss some bulk interpretations of the large-q theory that may lead to a more complete bulk description.
